Performance Marketing Lead

sun.store is a B2B marketplace for solar and energy storage equipment, connecting installers, distributors and wholesalers across Europe. Our platform enables professional buyers and sellers to trade PV modules, inverters, batteries and more.

We're building our performance marketing function in-house and looking for someone to take ownership of paid acquisition, establish a scalable growth engine and make a measurable impact on the business.

Position: Performance Marketing Lead

About the role

As Performance Marketing Lead, you'll own paid acquisition across European markets, with one clear objective: acquire new customers profitably and drive sustainable marketplace growth.

Google Ads will be your primary channel, with Meta Ads supporting acquisition and retargeting.

This is a hands-on role combining campaign execution with strategic ownership. You'll build and optimise campaigns, manage tracking and reporting, allocate budgets and decide where to invest next. You'll work independently, with no team to manage initially, and have a direct impact on acquisition strategy and results.

We're looking for someone who can move comfortably between campaign-level details and the bigger picture: customer acquisition costs, payback periods and long-term customer value.

What you'll do

  • Own Google Ads across European markets. Build and optimise Search, Performance Max, Demand Gen and YouTube campaigns across multiple countries and languages.

  • Manage Meta Ads. Run acquisition and retargeting campaigns targeting installers, distributors and other relevant customer segments.

  • Build brand awareness through paid media. Position sun.store as the go-to European marketplace for solar equipment while supporting measurable business growth.

  • Acquire customers on both sides of the marketplace. Develop campaigns that attract both buyers and suppliers, adapting your approach to each audience.

  • Optimise for business outcomes. Define meaningful conversion events and optimisation goals, connecting ad platforms with CRM and offline conversion data to help them learn from real customer value.

  • Own budget allocation and unit economics. Track CAC by conversion event and paying customer, LTV and payback periods. Scale campaigns that deliver sustainable returns and rethink those that don't.

  • Own tracking and measurement. Manage Google Tag Manager, GA4, Meta Conversions API, enhanced conversions, server-side tracking and Consent Mode v2.

  • Make reporting reflect reality. Reconcile ad platform data with GA4, CRM and transaction data to understand what actually drives customer acquisition and revenue.

  • Run structured experiments. Test audiences, creatives, messaging, landing pages and bidding strategies. Document your findings so that learnings become part of the company's knowledge base.

  • Use AI to work smarter. Apply AI tools and MCP servers to analyse data, automate reporting and streamline campaign management.

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years of performance marketing experience, including at least 3 years of hands-on Google Ads experience building and managing multi-country accounts.

  • A strong track record of profitable growth. You've scaled acquisition while keeping CAC and payback within target.

  • A business-first mindset. You understand LTV, contribution margin and payback, and can build and defend a model for acquisition economics.

  • Hands-on tracking expertise. You can configure GTM, GA4, tags, events and conversion tracking yourself rather than relying entirely on developers.

  • Strong Meta Ads expertise, including Meta Conversions API and conversion measurement.

  • Experience connecting advertising platforms to CRM systems and using offline conversion data to improve optimisation.

  • Confidence working with data. You can analyse funnels, cohorts and A/B tests, distinguish correlation from causation and turn insights into action. SQL is a plus.

  • An AI-first approach to work. You actively explore AI tools to improve analysis, automation and productivity. Experience using MCP servers to connect AI with advertising, analytics or data platforms is a strong plus.

  • Strong English communication skills (C1 or above). German, Dutch or French is an advantage.

Brand-side experience is preferred. An agency background is also welcome if you've focused on client profitability and business outcomes rather than simply maximising spend or reported ROAS.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a B2B marketplace, e-commerce, solar energy or industrial equipment.

  • Familiarity with LinkedIn Ads or Microsoft Ads.

  • Experience with incrementality testing, including geo holdouts and conversion lift studies.

  • Experience with BigQuery, Looker Studio or Google Ads scripts.

What we offer

  • Ownership and impact: Lead paid acquisition across European markets and directly influence company growth.

  • Room to build: Establish our in-house performance marketing capabilities, shape the strategy and develop a scalable acquisition model.

  • A growing market: Join a business operating in the fast-growing solar and energy storage sector, backed by an established industry parent company.

  • An international team: Work with colleagues across markets in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

  • Room to grow: Expand your responsibilities as the business and marketing function develop.

  • 10 paid workation days per year, under the applicable contractual arrangements.
  • Hybrid work: one day per week in our Warsaw city-centre office, with the rest of the week remote.

  • Private medical care through Lux Med

Recruitment process

  1. Intro call - 30 minutes.

  2. Interview with the hiring manager - 60 minutes.

  3. Practical assignment — audit a sample Google Ads account or prepare a 90-day acquisition plan for one market (maximum 3–4 hours).

  4. Final interview with leadership, followed by a reference check.

  5. Offer.
